The rumours grew at Jerez and here comes the confirmation. In a brief press release, team Speed Up has announced that it has split from Romano Fenati, which leaves the rider without a bike just six races into the championship.
“Team SpeedUp confirms that it has terminated its contract with Romano Fenati”. This, the communication issued by the team, which will now need to find a replacement, although there already appears to be a clear favourite.
We’re talking about Alonso Lopez, who already wore team SpeedUp colours in last year’s CEV championship, where he finished second in Moto2 behind his - probable – future team-mate, Fermin Aldeguer.
Meanwhile, Fenati must look for a new ride, although this is no easy task. All the current Moto2 seats are occupied of course but, as Suzuki has taught us, another earthquake can always be just around the corner.
